As you can see, this is an early baptism record of 1670. I’ve highlighted the first in yellow It’s a “v” (as in vingt), and in green, is a “t” ( it’s suppose to be troizime for 3rd). In these earlier records a lot of similiar looking letters, shortcuts and misspellings occurred. Look for clues. look at the words, letters before and after so you can surmise what the letter of the word is.
The name is Francois Vachon. You notice the “V” has a line that bends over. This is vital to know as some b’s will look almost the same but won’t have the line that bends over.
